Bigstones Photo Gallery![]() Winter view of some of the stones at Earthwood. The South Stone, to the right, weighs about two tons. It is 6’4” high and comes from the underlying strata of anorthosite, roughly 2 billion years old. The stone at the left comes from the overlying strata, called Potsdam sandstone, formed by the ancient Champlain Sea, about 300 million years ago. The ice gnomon is only a few weeks old.
